TEHRAN - Shias are the main victims of terrorism in Iraq, political analyst Hojjatoleslam Seyyed Riyadh Hakim said here on Saturday.

He told the Mehr News Agency that the Iraqi government has recently adopted positive measures to counter terrorism.
It is likely that Iraq will be dismembered, and the idea is supported by some clandestine groups, Hakim said.
“Official parties and regional countries are against the idea because it would have dangerous repercussions for regional states,” but anything is possible in the current situation, he added.
Some dictatorial states that do not want to see a democratic government in Iraq are also intensifying the crisis, he stated.
He added that these regional dictatorial countries, Baathist remnants, and extremist Wahhabis are the source of terrorism in Iraq. The three currents have recently established dangerous relations and are promoting terrorism in the country.
We certainly do not want foreign troops to remain in Iraq, but the crisis is too complicated to be entirely resolved by their withdrawal, he observed.
He went on to say that Iraqi officials should fill the legal, political, and security vacuum so as to leave no pretext for terrorism.
Hakim also said that some Baathists might be employed by the Iraqi security forces.
These organizations certainly will not employ all Baathists, but a realistic and limited compromise with some low-level members of the party could be constructive under the current circumstances, he added
